Nsolo Bush Camp is situated on a bend in the Luwi River that runs through the heart of Zambia's south Luangwa National Park, a three hours' walk from Luwi Bushcamp. We are open from 20 May - 31 October. Accommodation in this luxury safari camp consists of four individually designed Chalets, each on raised wooden decks with high thatched roofs and private verandahs. The rooms are very spacious with stylish furnishings. As with most of our bush camps, the bathrooms have no roofs and are set under the shade of the trees above. At Nsolo, you don't usually have to search hard for your African safari experience. The wildlife frequents a waterhole in the dry riverbed in front of the camp and very often your most exciting game viewing is from the comfort of your own deck or from the central chitenje that houses the bar and small camp library. There is only a limited network of roads in this are and as a result, most of the game viewing activities are centred on walking safaris, although short night drives are usually offered as well. The Luwi River system is renowned for its lion population. Various pride territories overlap in this area and the cats use the dry riverbed as a thoroughfare and a means not only of locating their prey who come to drink, but also of locating their rivals who must be warned away. There are few African experiences more exciting than heading out on a walking safari early in the morning, hearing lions calling through the night, finding fresh tracks and following them. With voices hushed and hearts beating, your mind is suggesting there is a lion behind every bush.

  10. Mwamba Bush Camp Hotel Details
    Zambia: :
    Kaingo :
    South Luangwa National Park
    HotelPhoto1 HotelPhoto2 HotelPhoto3 HotelPhoto4
Wonderfully remote and peaceful, the site is a relaxed 3-hour bushwalk from Kaingo. Set on the banks of the Mwamba River, a tributary of the Luangwa, the camp enjoys shady views of perennial water-holes. The chalets are uniquely designed with two large skylights (protected by mosquito gauze) allowing you to experience sleeping under the stars. These three reed and thatch en-suite bungalows also have solar lighting, flush toilets and hot showers. The accommodation reflects a thoughtful balance between back-to-nature simplicity and essential comforts. Meals are of the same high standard as Kaingo, and the bush-style dining/bar area or 'chitenge' is set under the deep shade of huge ebony trees. A spectacular sunset viewing-point on top of a large termite mound and a glowing campfire under the stars completes the camp's friendly and personal atmosphere. The game around Mwamba is excellent; large herds of buffalo, eland and Cookson's wildebeeste are followed by the 'Mwamba pride', which consists of six beautiful lionesses and two classicly dark maned males. Good leopard sightings are also common due to the large numbers of impala and puku in the area. Elephants use the Mwamba's waterholes regularly and there is a large bull which frequents the camp. Another appeal of Mwamba is the surrounding terrain. The land varies tremendously from wide open plains such as Lion Plain and Eland Plain, interspersed by shady mopane/crocodile bark woodland with short grass, and bordered by Combretum thickets along the Mwamba river. The area is excellent for walking safaris and game drives. We also offer over-night 'camp-outs' (sleeping open under a net, close to the camp-fire) on request. These trips allow visitors to get a sense of the absolute wildness of the National Park as there are no other camps or trails for miles around. One of the most unusual sights is the Baobab 'forest' near Mwamba Sands. As Mwamba is a specialised camp and is an extension to Kaingo, the small staff have been hand-picked and will work tirelessly to ensure guests are comfortable and relaxed.
