Come winter, come summer, you're always welcome at Merwenstein Guestfarm The guesthouse is a place where the owners will do their utmost to make you part of their family. We have three en suite double bedded rooms, each has two 3/4 beds, a roof fan, a heater, coffee/tea making facilities, en suite shower/WC with bathroom heater and hairdryer, private entrances and covered patios. The rooms are connected to a guest lounge. One room has an air conditioner and this room is adapted for a wheelchair with drive-in shower facilities. You will be personally greeted at arrival and after a refreshing glass of grape juice; you will be taken on a guided walk of the farm. (For those that cannot walk, the tour is done with a VW-bus). You will see the specific activity for that day and be informed about the trials and tribulations of farming with fruit. The tour will take you through orchards and vineyards down to the Breede River which flows passed the farm. A rich variety of plant and birdlife exists there and if you wish you can then board the Breede River Goose, a river cruiser operated by a neighboring farmer. It is a most relaxing cruise and you will see a wide variety of birds. Dinner is served in the kitchen and Hugo and Heidi will sit down with you and at the most 6 other guests. Heidi adventures with her cooking to blend European styles with African and Malay style cooking. A lot of fresh vegetables and salads are always on the set menu so that even a vegetarian can have a wholesome dinner. Wine served at the table is from the Merwespont Wine Cellar. Breakfast is served from 08h00 until 12h00, about the time we start to serve lunch! If nothing has you in a holiday mood, this will get you! No specific time to clear your room except if there is a special request from Heidi to do so. Breakfast is in our entertainment room with panoramic windows giving you a view over the orchards and vineyards. On cold mornings a fire from the alpine fireplace will warm you up. We offer our Fruit About Tour : This specialty tour will take you up close and personal to the delights of fruit and wine farming. Come and meet the family and whilst they entertain you with interesting farm stories walk through apricot, peach and plum orchards. In season experience the harvesting of the fruit, follow the wine making process and choose some fruit just for yourself. A wide variety of birds, indigenous flowers and plants are shown. After working up an appetite, relax under huge eucalyptus trees for a farm lunch and birdsong as background music, and if you are lucky you might spot our shy rover otter family.

The southern most tip of the mighty African continent is only two hours drive from Cape Town and is the place where the Atlantic and Indian oceans meet. The ruggedness of the area is mirrored in the name Agulhas, meaning place of needles. In keeping with this, the Agulhas Country Lodge is built from local limestone and blends beautifully into a hill overlooking the spectacular oceans. The lodge has several relaxation areas – a cigar lounge, quaint pub with an air force/maritime theme, a TV room with paintings of shipwrecks, a lounge area and glass clad balcony with spectacular sea views for whale watching.The friendly staff who are very service orientated, take great pride in preparing gourmet country style dinners which are served in the romantic candlelit restaurant. The menu which varies daily and is complimented with a selection of South African wines. The wine list features the southernmost and newest wine region in the country, right on our doorstep – in the Elim, Bredasdorp, Napier region of the Overberg. Fresh fish and seafood bought daily at the nearby harbour in Struisbaai are a specialty and the emphasis of the food is to serve delicious, honest and local fair, prepared with the freshest ingredients. The restaurant also serves traditional South African cuisine with a modern twist and local organic venison and pork feature regularly. Tables are elegant, decked out in white linen, Carol Boyes cutlery and cut glass crystal but the atmosphere is relaxed, with fires blazing in winter to add to the romantic atmosphere. All eight rooms have seaviews from the balcony, two have direct seaviews and the honeymoon rooms with their jacuzzi baths and double open showers are very popular. These also offer views of the varied fynbos and excellent bird life on the property.  Beautiful embroidered percale linen, original art and antique Cape cottage furniture enhance the homely atmosphere. Four rooms have ¾ twin beds (two of these are family rooms with 3 beds each) and the other four have queen size double beds. The honeymoon rooms have an entertainment centre and mini bar. All the upstairs rooms have air conditioners and all rooms have panel heaters.There is a new beauty salon with a resident qualified beautician to offer massages, manicure- and pedicures, waxing and all the normal therapeutic treatments. Swimming at the longest uninterrupted white beach in southern Africa at nearby Struisbaai is a popular activity in summer and is safe.  Agulhas offers two tidal pools within walking distance and the second oldest light house is a brisk walk away. Also don’t miss the eco coastal safari through the Agulhas National Park or a sea excursion for deep sea fishing or simply for pleasure.
