The Ostrich feather palace, Foster's Manor, was the only one to be established as a charming Bed and Breakfast. The Manor was declared a national monument in 1974 and was restored to its former glory. The Great British sandstone architect, Charles Bullock, was the creater of the building - his original plans and documents are displayed in the breakfast room of the Manor. J.Foster, a local attorney, instructed Bullock to design a double storey mansion for him. Foster called this mansion 'Rus in Urbe', formally known as Foster's Folly- later renamed Foster's Manor. We, Agnes (Manager) and Kahreema (Assistant Manager) hope that we will have the pleasure of making your acquaintance real soon. The Manor has 8 rooms, the character of which is a blend of the old and new. Every room has an en suite bathroom where one can relax in a French slipper bath. You can also enjoy a drink while watching television. A stay in the manor's honeymoon suite will be the crowning glory of your honeymoon! The spacious interiors have been individually furnished with authentic collector's pieces from the early 1900s. All rooms are fitted with mini-bars, facilities for making coffee and tea, and TVs (available channels - SABC1, 2 and 3, M-Net). Guests can also roam the ground floor, which is decorated with photo reproductions of the feather boom era. Room 1 and 6: Superior/ Family room The room has 1double and 2 twin beds. Experience a culinary array of flavors mingling on our cold and hot buffet. Breakfast is served in the breakfast room and in winter (June, July and August) enjoy your breakfast in the warmth of a fire. In summer (December, January and February) breakfast can be served outside on the 'stoep' and one can enjoy the tranquil surroundings and fresh Karoo air. Although we do not serve dinner at the manor we can make dinner reservations for you at excellent nearby restaurants.
