The Wilderness Lodge is located in the centre of the Wicklow Way, 40.4 miles from Marley Park in Dublin and 40.4 miles from Clonegal in Carlow. The Wilderness Lodge Self Catering Centre offers a central location for hikers completing The Wicklow Way, or for guests who only wish to complete a section of the path. The Wilderness Lodge is 30 yards from The Glenmalure Lodge Hotel, which serves breakfast, lunch, evening meals and features traditional Irish music and entertainment in the evening. There is limited WiFi in the office area. The lodge caters for groups of 8-16 people doing the Wicklow Way. The Wilderness Lodge Self Catering also provides guided and self-guided walks for guests and maps free of charge. The Wilderness Lodge is located at the starting point of the Trek to Lugnaquilla Mountain, the highest mountain outside of Kerry.
