It includes over a hundred kilometres of pristine coastline, stretching from St Lucia to the Mozambique border, and includes 38 000 hectares of lake, numerous islands, and an estuary supporting a variety of habitats including the Lebombo mountains, grasslands, forests, wetlands, mangroves and vegetated dunes, with magnificent beaches and coral reefs. This natural diversity creates an environment which is a birder's dream, with more than 500 species to be found in the area.
