A 3-star Ryder Cup 2010 coaching inn, with the tower and walls of Brecon Castle located in its gardens, this heritage inn offers great charm and character. Brecon Castle Hotel opened as a coaching inn in the late 18th century, becoming the first hotel in Wales in the first decade of the 19th century. Located in private grounds on a prominent hill in the centre of the Georgian town, it offers beautiful views over the River Usk and up to the Brecon Beacons mountains. The hotel is located just 2 miles from Cradoc Golf Course (Welsh golf course of the year 2005). As well as falconry, golf, fishing, mountain climbing and walking activities, historical castle and monastery tours are organised from the hotel. The hotel owns its own canal boat on the Brecon canal for those wishing to mix and match their time in the Brecon Beacons.
