Chobe Chilwero borders the Chobe National Park, which is the second largest national park in Botswana covering an area of 10,566 km². Chilwero, means place of high view in the local language of Setswana. The lodge sits above the Chobe River and offers unparalleled panoramic views across the islands and flood plains as far as Namibia. Chobe Chilwero has 15 stone & thatched bungalows, 6 double and 9 twin. Each cottage measures 61 square metres and has its own en-suite bathroom with a large sunken bath, indoor and outdoor showers, private garden, sala or private balcony, mosquito nets, ceiling fans, air-conditioning, hairdryer as well as an in-room safe. The main public area includes a lounge and dining room, which are linked to outdoor viewing patios. The wine cellar is temperature controlled and houses a large variety of the finest South African and European wines. A range of spa treatments are offered at Chobe Chilwero, which are usually done in-room but may also be set up at the swimming pool. The lodge also boasts a split-level swimming pool, library, curio shop and an e-communications centre, which offers telephone, fax and Internet access. Electricity, 240 volts, is permanently supplied. Activities include game drives in open 4 x 4 vehicles and romantic sundowner cruises. Fishing excursions are also available at an additional cost (pre-booking is advised.) On day trips to Victoria falls, you can bungee jump, river raft, microlite, tether balloon, shop, tour the Falls, visit the cultural village, or go elephant back riding. Scenic flights over four countries are also offered (additional cost).
